Note about Linux and FreeBSD builds: We do our best to support the latest kernels, however, with the myriad of configurations in both of these OS kernels, problems can arise when using an unknown or untested version.
Linux kernel 2.6.2 and above shows significant improvements in threading, especially when using the NPTL (Native POSIX Thread Library). We highly recommend using the 2.6.2 kernel or above with NPTL for this performance enhancement.
FreeBSD binaries on the standard install of Free BSD 5.0.
